A lookalike GameSpot member can enter a familiar thread using a copied avatar or writing style. Preserve the surrounding conversation so moderators can see who said what.

Check the member in the thread

  • Compare the full /profile/handle/ URL with the established member’s profile. Do not rely on the display name in a quoted reply.
  • Read earlier contributions from both accounts. Compare the dates, topics and claims in the disputed conversation.
  • Check links in comments and signatures against the member’s previously published links.
  • Confirm a private-contact or payment request through the established account before following it.

Give moderators the conversation

  • Include both profile URLs and direct links to the relevant posts and threads.
  • Capture parent messages and quoted replies with the suspicious response, rather than cropping away the context.
  • Identify copied wording, changed links or misleading claims and record capture times.
