A copied Dribbble shot can attract a client enquiry to the wrong designer. Check the portfolio contact before sending a brief, signing a contract or paying a deposit.

Follow the work to its owner

  • Compare the profile URL with links from the designer’s established website, Behance or LinkedIn page.
  • Review shot dates, descriptions and project history for the work being offered.
  • Compare the business email and linked domain with the contact details on the designer’s own site.
  • If a lookalike handle, copied thumbnails or a new payment destination appears, confirm the offer through the established contact before proceeding.

Keep a record of the offer

  • Save the profile and relevant shot URLs, plus the message or contract request.
  • Note the copied work and any difference in contact or payment details.
  • Include the designer’s original portfolio when reporting a copied profile.
