ProfileTrace vs FreeUsername: Which username search should I use?
Choose FreeUsername if you want a free, no-signup search with result statuses, public profile details when available and JSON or CSV exports. Try ProfileTrace if you want public-profile search with evidence-saving guidance and official report or account-help links beside the results, where available. ProfileTrace’s first search is free; further searches use prepaid credits. Paying is a choice about the service you prefer, not evidence that its matches are more accurate.

FreeUsername does more than hand you a list of links
Its user guide describes public names, avatars and bios where the source site exposes them. It also documents category filters, checks for up to five handles at once, and JSON/CSV exports. Those are useful features for comparing your current handle with a few old spellings or keeping a record of candidate accounts.
The browser search is advertised as free without an account. If those features answer your question, you may not need another search service.
Read the status before drawing a conclusion
FreeUsername distinguishes a possible match from a failed check. Its guide explains Blocked as a refused or rate-limited request and Unknown as an unclear response. Neither means an account is absent. Found still needs a visit to the actual profile.
That is a useful habit with any username checker. If an automated check can’t read a site, trying a paid tool doesn’t guarantee access. Open the public link yourself if you need to resolve an important result, and leave the question open if the page isn’t available to you.
What you would be paying ProfileTrace for
ProfileTrace offers a supported-site username lookup with guidance on saving evidence and finding official reporting or account help. That can be useful when your next task is handling a suspicious account rather than exporting a search file. It isn’t an analyst service or automatic impersonator detection.
The credit packs have no subscription or automatic renewal. Use the free first search to decide whether the results and guidance suit your task before buying. We can’t promise it will recover an account another tool missed, and this comparison does not establish either service as more accurate.
Results are leads, not proof of identity. ProfileTrace is not a background check and cannot be used for hiring, housing, credit or insurance decisions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
