ProfileTrace vs IDCrawl: Which username search should I use?
Try IDCrawl if you want a free, no-signup way to look for social profiles using a username. Choose ProfileTrace if you want a public-username search with evidence-saving guidance and links to official account-help or reporting pages alongside the results, where available. Both can help you find accounts to inspect. Finding a profile and establishing who controls it are separate tasks.

When IDCrawl is enough
IDCrawl’s username page describes a free search for social profiles and says no signup is required. If your task is to find a public account you used to follow, a useful result may be all you need. Open the profile, check its contents and keep the link. There is no reason to buy another search just because one is available.
What would make ProfileTrace worth trying?
ProfileTrace’s username search checks supported public sites for a handle. On the results page, evidence guidance and official help links can help you move from “I found this account” to “here is what I need to save or report.” Those instructions don’t label the account fake, and the service doesn’t send a report for you.
The first search is free, with no card required. Further searches use prepaid credits without automatic renewal. If you only need to find one link, test the free option before deciding whether more searches would be useful. We don’t have comparative evidence to promise that a paid search will find a missing account or produce a more reliable ownership conclusion.
Decide what the result needs to show
For a suspected copy of your own account, inspect the candidate’s actual claim. Using a similar name is different from claiming to be your official support account or directing customers to a payment address.
A useful note might read: “This profile describes itself as our support account, but our established website links to a different handle.” Save the candidate URL and a screenshot of that claim. That is more specific than writing “same username, so fake.” Our creator identity guides cover official-account confusion in more detail.
If nothing useful appears, name the remaining question before searching again. Did the handle change? Was it misspelled? Is the profile private? A second tool’s empty result won’t settle those possibilities. Use the no-results guide to decide whether another lookup would help.
Results are leads, not proof of identity. ProfileTrace is not a background check and cannot be used for hiring, housing, credit or insurance decisions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
