Public-profile guide
Find a Substack Profile or Publication
Distinguish a writer’s handle from the publication website they publish on.

Which Substack link identifies a writer’s profile?
A Substack profile uses substack.com/@handle. A publication can have its own subdomain or custom website, so use the writer’s shared profile link when you want their personal Substack page.
Start with the handle
Substack’s profile guide says handles are unique and determine the profile URL. If you have the current handle, open its profile address. A publication title is a different starting point: follow its author links or ask the writer for their profile URL.
A website can mirror the profile
Substack lets publishers choose between a profile view and a custom website. A publication address opening a profile-style page is therefore not necessarily a bad link. Check the handle and the writer’s own links before treating similar titles as the same account.
Share your current profile
On your profile, choose Edit profile to update your handle, name, bio or website links. Copy the current public profile address after a change so readers receive the right destination.

Check a public handle across sites
You can separately check a public handle across supported sites. A matching name alone does not confirm account ownership.
