Find a PlayStrategy Player Without Confusing Ratings

Keep the player’s account link and compare ratings within the right game category.

Can a PlayStrategy player change their username?

PlayStrategy says usernames cannot be changed, apart from a one-time capitalisation adjustment. Ask the player for their existing account link rather than looking for a renamed handle. Ratings are separate: a question mark marks a provisional rating, not a different account.

Keep the existing account link

The PlayStrategy FAQ states that usernames cannot be changed for technical and practical reasons, while capitalisation can be adjusted once. When a player’s name looks different only in letter case, ask them to confirm their account link.

Read the rating in context

A question mark beside a rating means it is provisional. PlayStrategy also explains that ratings from different sites or organisations are not directly comparable. Keep the game and rating category with any result you record.

Leaderboards have participation and rating requirements. A player missing from a leaderboard may still have an account; use a link they shared when you need that particular player.

Check a public handle across sites

You can separately check a public handle across supported sites. Compare results with a link the account owner has shared; a matching name alone does not confirm ownership.
