Public-profile guide
Find the Right Jupyter Account
Find a forum contributor or the login for your notebook server.

Is a Jupyter forum profile the same as a JupyterHub login?
A public Jupyter Community Forum profile identifies a forum contributor. A JupyterHub login belongs to the particular Hub you use. If you saw jovyan in a notebook environment, that may simply be the default container username.
Looking for a forum contributor?
Use Jupyter’s community forum and start from the discussion where they contributed. The forum guidelines say that each post carries its author’s profile information. That is the relevant public account when you want to return to their answer.
Trying to sign in to your notebooks?
Return to the Hub address supplied by your school, employer or hosting service. JupyterHub can authenticate against different systems, including local accounts or an external sign-in provider. Ask that Hub’s administrator which login to use; finding a forum profile does not resolve access to its notebook servers.
What does jovyan mean?
Jupyter Docker Stacks documents jovyan as its default container user. Seeing that name in a path or terminal is not evidence of a particular person’s public profile. Use a profile link the contributor shared instead of treating the container name as their handle.

Check a public handle across sites
You can separately check a public handle across supported sites. A matching username alone does not confirm who owns an account.
First search free. Signup keeps your username ready; you choose when to search. Public profiles only—no private or paywalled content.
