How do I find the author of a Python.org discussion?
Search for the discussion or Python question you remember, then follow the author link on the relevant contribution. Stay on discuss.python.org when you need the forum account rather than a package-publishing account.
Narrow the topic
Python.org’s discussion guidelines recommend looking for existing posts first and say you can search within a category. Use the subject of the contribution to narrow the search. Python Help is the category for questions about using Python.
Keep the contribution in context
Save the discussion link with the account link. If a post was edited, Python.org says the pencil icon opens its edit history and attributions. That can help explain why an old quotation differs from what you see now. A matching handle on another service does not establish that it is the same contributor.

Check a public handle across sites
You can separately check a public handle across supported sites. A matching username alone does not confirm who owns an account.
First search free. Signup keeps your username ready; you choose when to search. Public profiles only—no private or paywalled content.
